This wheel-thrown sake set captures the quiet beauty of hand-painted ginkgo leaves in a vibrant black glaze. Each piece is crafted from porcelain and wood-fired. The inside is glazed with a soft green Oribe glaze and the outside was left unglazed resulting in warm peachy-tan flashing and subtle ash deposits that make this set truly one-of-a-kind.
The set includes one tokkuri (sake carafe) and two guinomi (cups), each adorned with delicate ginkgo silhouettes that stand in striking contrast against the soft, textured surface. The wood firing process creates natural variations in color and sheen—organic markings that can’t be replicated, only discovered.
FEATURES*:
Wood-fired for atmospheric effects and warm color variations
Tokkuri (carafe) is 6” tall x 4” wide, and holds approximately 14 oz/414 ml
Guinomis (cups) are 2.75” tall x 2.5” wide, and hold approximately 3 oz/88 ml each
Glazes are non-toxic, and lead-free
Dishwasher safe but recommend hand washing to prolong life
Bottom is sanded smooth so it does not scratch furniture
Each piece bears the unique fingerprint of the flames—no two sets are exactly alike. The marriage of deliberate craftsmanship and elemental chance makes this set both a functional vessel and a small work of art for your table.
As expected, handmade pieces can have small slopes, grooves, and imperfections. That’s how you know it’s a hand crafted original and not a factory-made replica.
