Scallop Wood Fired Dish | Design 3

This delightful dish is hand built, and wood and soda fired. It features a single Amber Celadon glaze that has rich tawny honey tones. The colors on wood fired pieces can vary depending on where they are placed in the kiln (high or low, close to the fire or away from it, and what’s next to it).  Wood ash is deposited in the firing and creates a glaze of its own. No two pieces come out looking alike. The dish is further enhanced by 22k gold on the rim and center.

The glazed inside of the dish is a lovely contrast to the earthy brown underside that was left unglazed.

• Recommend handwashing to prolong life & protect the gold

• Bottom is sanded to a smooth finish

Each dish is handmade and twice fired. As expected, handmade pieces can have small slopes, grooves, and imperfections. That’s how you know it’s a hand crafted original and not a factory-made replica.
