Raku | Pit Fired Pumpkins - Large

$28.00
Sold Out

Pit firing is like playing with fire! As the name suggests, pit firing is painting a piece with colorants and placing them in a pit or a barrel. Wood is piled high on the pieces and set on fire. When the fire burns out and pieces cool off, they're pulled out to reveal dramatic colors - reds, oranges, blues, and grey-whites. The unpredictability of pit firing is what attracts many artists to it.

FEATURES*:

  • 5.5”h x 5”w approximately

CARE: Pit firing is a low fire process and thus not waterproof. While beautiful, pit fired ware is decorative rather than functional, and it will not hold water.

This piece is handmade and twice fired. As expected, handmade pieces can have small slopes, grooves, and imperfections. That’s how you know it’s a hand crafted original and not a factory-made replica.

NOTE:

* All sizes are approximations.

* Photos are as close as possible to the accurate representation of the item’s actual color. However, due to varying screen and device settings, your item may appear slightly different in person.
